During each week of summer camp, cabins spend one evening cooking dinner over a campfire together. The traditional Camp John Marc cookout meal is chicken fajitas, rice, hand-cranked ice cream and fire bread, an American Indian dish. There are 13 unique cookout sites at CJM that include three sets of covered wagons, a tree house and hammock area. Cookout sites are located at:
- Archery Range
 - Morning Star Chapel
 - Deer Valley
 - Firefly Valley
 - Fishing Pier
 - Gentle Oak
 - Hammocks
 - Jack Rabbit Run
 - Old Covered Wagons
 - Star Gazing
 - Tree House
 - Wrangler Way
