The Silo is an 11,000 square foot indoor multi-purpose activity building that is used year-round. The Silo features a nature porch, costume room, teaching kitchen, library, darkroom, multipurpose areas and an enclosed climbing wall.
Nature Porch
The nature porch is home to many lizards, snakes and other reptiles who spend the summer at Camp John Marc as part of the camp nature program. During weekend camps this space is used for fossil making, bird nest building and other nature activities.
Darkroom
During the summer, campers in the photography project take black and white film photographs and then learn to develop their images in the darkroom. Campers in this project take home a portfolio of their prints at the end of the week.
Teaching Kitchen
The teaching kitchen is used year-round for fun cooking activities that keep the campers’ diagnosis and dietary restrictions in mind. Campers make walking tacos, dirt cups, fruit kabobs and other culinary delights.
