Camp John Marc does not take camper applications directly. Instead, the participating camps that CJM serves are responsible for camper recruitment and selection. Campers are invited by these groups to camp based on their medical diagnosis and treating medical staff.
Those looking for a camping opportunity can use the American Camp Associations Find A Camp Tool to search for accredited camping programs. Additionally, families living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with children or teens being treated or served by one of the participating camp groups listed here can also ask their healthcare providers if they facilitate a camping experience.
Additionally, each participating camp coordinates the medical team that will be present during their time at Camp John Marc. Many of the physicians, nurses, therapists, and specialists that work with campers year-round also come to CJM. This provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships and interact in a unique way. Patients and medical staff learn more about each other outside the hospital environment, create memories and have fun, positive experiences that can be talked about year-round.
