Richard “Dick” Sanders Cantrell was known by all for his quiet wisdom and gentle spirit. He would greet everyone with a handshake or a high five that was always accompanied by a warm smile.
Dick and his nephew, John Marc Myers, were kindred spirits in their love for the outdoors and early battles with medical challenges. Despite their battles, both never let this impact the way they interacted with others both in and outside of the hospital.
Dick was very involved with Camp John Marc from the early days and was a staple presence at some of the first Camp Workdays. Whether it be moving rocks and clearing catus or smoking brisket for lunch, Dick was always willing to lend a helping hand. His spirit of hospitality is something that will be remembered.
In remembrance of Dick and his tremendous commitment to Camp John Marc, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given in his honor to continue to inspire confidence for life.
